Same Ol' Story
Everyone tells the same "Ol' Story..."
The only difference is how it's being told.
And if the young would only take some time to listen.
There is some wisdom -
That can be gained from the old.
For there are very few first that anyone can buy,
That hasn't once already been sold.
I believe that everyone at some point,
Has once held their fortune.
But it's unto their "Dreams..."
That they couldn't hold.
I now realize, as my days grow shorter,
I too have a story to tell.
Of the many dreams that I've had and lost.
And the dreams I've tried...
Yet failed.
And I wish I'd heard then,
What I hear now.
Had been wise enough to see.
That the "Same Ol' Stories..." that they often told.
Were really stories all about me.
Now it is I who tells the "Same Ol' Stories."
The only difference is how it's being told.
I just hope the young are listening...
Before they become too old.
